Retiring Products

This is a time of year with mixed emotions – excitement at the up-coming new catalogue and sadness at the imminent loss of the retiring products.  Two I am really sad to be losing are the decorative label and petite petal punches so I thought I’d use them for this week’s challenges.  Both are sketches this week

I hope you like my interpretations. I particularly like the combination of mint macaron (retiring) with sweet sugarplum – even better in reality than in the photos.  The backgrounds were made by inking up the retiring lovely lace embossing folder before putting it through the big shot, one using the ‘front’ and one the ‘back’, I’m always torn between which I prefer!

If you’d like to get your hands on some of these products – especially the ones that are about to retire – you can do so through my online shop above or by clicking below .

Special Reason

This week many of my fellow Stampin’ Up! demos are in Amsterdam for our convention known as On Stage. I was unable to go this time 😦 so Amy Gould and I organised our own Off Stage event for the Diamond Stamping team. We had a lovely time and made some really pretty cards and boxes.

One of the stamp sets we used was Special Reason so I thought I’d use it for this week’s challenges.

For the free choice of colour I used pear pizazz and this was the result

Swirly Bird

When I first saw the Swirly Bird stamp set I thought it was really boring…it just shows you shouldn’t trust your first impressions!  I’m just amazed how versatile this stamp set is, and am basing this month’s classes on that discovery.  I thought I’d also use it for this week’s challenges.

I’ve used the colours from the Global Design Project #GDP080

and the sketch from Colours and Sketches #216

I was inspired by a card on splitcoaststampers so changed the orientation and came up with

02April2017 comp

You can find the other entries for GDP here and CAS here.

The supplies I used are listed below and can be bought via my online shop.  If you’d like other swirly bird ideas, contact me for details of my classes.

Medallions

Well my Make a Medallion stamp set arrived and I’ve been having a great time playing with it.  It’s one of the sets you can get for free until the end of March and it’s just beautiful.

As they say  ‘ a picture is worth a thousand words’ so I’ll let you be the judge.  I used it for this week’s challenge blogs, which were both sketch challenges.

The global design project #GDP078 is this

and my interpretation is this:

The  CAS colours and sketches challenge #214 is

and for this I did a monochrome card :

19 Mar 2017

The 2 colour effect is achieved by using 2nd generation ink i.e. stamping on scrap paper first so that the 2nd image is lighter.  I love the effect that gives.

The other entries can be found here

Although both of my cards use the same set the effect is quite different, and in my classes this month we’ll be doing at least 1 other variation, using the same colours but for different parts of the stamp set.  I’ve also enjoyed trying out different backgrounds including using cling film which was a recent tutorial on splitcoaststampers.

******A special note if you are a UK demo (near Hampshire) who is not going to On Stage in Amsterdam then please contact me for details of my Off Stage event asap.*******

As usual all materials can be purchased from my online store and are listed below:

The new catalogue

For our group Christmas get-together the challenge was to make a swap using some of the products from the new catalogue.  Well one of the fun parts of being a demo is doing a pre-order from the new catalogue and what a lot to choose from.  i drew inspiration from this

Noel

Well the Christmas crafting season is in full swing now….we held our Christmas charity event last weekend and raised over £400 for the Ocean Stars trust which is a local charity raising funds to help children in Sri Lanka.  It was a really fun morning and the ladies made some beautiful cards.

This weeks challenges involve a sketch and some colours so I thought I’d combine them and this is the result

christmas-stocking

I hope you like it.

The CAS colours and sketches challenge #196 was

I chose to just use the garden green and cherry cobbler.  See the other entries here

A final flurry of leaves

It still feels like September so I’m allowing myself 1 more entry with the lovely vintage leaves!  Well, I made up that rule so I think that’s allowed 🙂

The CAS challenge #193 is a double this week

ccs_2016-09-29_193

and I thought I’d combine it with the Global design project #GDP055gdp055-theme-oct-02-16 and create a card to give away to someone special …who shall I pick?  I’m blessed with lots of special people to choose from !  The other entries can be seen here for CAS and over here for GDP.

Anyway I had fun creating some coloured paper by splodging the colours randomly  on a large block, squirting with water and then laying some very vanilla card stock over the top and pressing firmly.  Once dry I then over stamped with rich razzleberry then die cut the leaves to make this

vintage_leaves_oct-wm I was particularly pleased with the border, made by stamping one of the leaves along the edge of the card – any messiness being hidden by the strip of rich razzleberry 🙂

If you’d like to learn how to do this then do come along to a class.  But hurry…soon it will be Christmas card time.  I’m planning several classes including the favourite – 20 cards in a day – a great way to boost your card production especially as I’ll do the preparation for you.

To make today’s card head over to my online shop for anything you’ll need and don’t forget to use the hostess code to get a free gift (see sidebar)
