Retiring Products

This is a time of year with mixed emotions – excitement at the up-coming new catalogue and sadness at the imminent loss of the retiring products.  Two I am really sad to be losing are the decorative label and petite petal punches so I thought I’d use them for this week’s challenges.  Both are sketches this week

I hope you like my interpretations. I particularly like the combination of mint macaron (retiring) with sweet sugarplum – even better in reality than in the photos.  The backgrounds were made by inking up the retiring lovely lace embossing folder before putting it through the big shot, one using the ‘front’ and one the ‘back’, I’m always torn between which I prefer!

If you’d like to get your hands on some of these products – especially the ones that are about to retire – you can do so through my online shop above or by clicking below .

Medallions

Well my Make a Medallion stamp set arrived and I’ve been having a great time playing with it.  It’s one of the sets you can get for free until the end of March and it’s just beautiful.

As they say  ‘ a picture is worth a thousand words’ so I’ll let you be the judge.  I used it for this week’s challenge blogs, which were both sketch challenges.

The global design project #GDP078 is this

and my interpretation is this:

The  CAS colours and sketches challenge #214 is

and for this I did a monochrome card :

19 Mar 2017

The 2 colour effect is achieved by using 2nd generation ink i.e. stamping on scrap paper first so that the 2nd image is lighter.  I love the effect that gives.

The other entries can be found here

Although both of my cards use the same set the effect is quite different, and in my classes this month we’ll be doing at least 1 other variation, using the same colours but for different parts of the stamp set.  I’ve also enjoyed trying out different backgrounds including using cling film which was a recent tutorial on splitcoaststampers.

The new catalogue

For our group Christmas get-together the challenge was to make a swap using some of the products from the new catalogue.  Well one of the fun parts of being a demo is doing a pre-order from the new catalogue and what a lot to choose from.  i drew inspiration from this

Noel

Well the Christmas crafting season is in full swing now….we held our Christmas charity event last weekend and raised over £400 for the Ocean Stars trust which is a local charity raising funds to help children in Sri Lanka.  It was a really fun morning and the ladies made some beautiful cards.

This weeks challenges involve a sketch and some colours so I thought I’d combine them and this is the result

christmas-stocking

I hope you like it.

Vintage leaves continued

This week the challenges are both colour related, here’s the CAS colours

ccs_2016-09-15_191

and this is my creation

my-thoughts-are-with-you-wm

For the cucumber crush and delightful dijon I inked up the stamps, stamped onto scrap paper and then onto the very vanilla to get a paler (second generation)  image which wouldn’t overpower the beautiful bermuda bay.

The global design project had these colourscolour-challengegdp053

and here is my take on them #GDP093

youre-in-my-thoughts-3-wm

It’s hard to tell from the picture (!) but the top layer has  a leaf shaped hole in it which has been cut with the leaflets die.  On the layer below I daubed with the watermelon wonder and stamped the greeting.

Vintage leaves

I was so pleased when one of my team members sent me a pin of a card using vintage leaves.  How could I have forgotten about this lovely set?! So I decided to use it for this weeks challenges. The sketch from CAS was

sketch-190

and this is my version #CAS190

sep_0916a-wm

I drew round a plant pot to get the curve !  For the large leaf, I inked the stamp all over with the tangerine tango and then gently tapped old olive and soft suede pads around to give a multi coloured effect.

The global design project challenge was as follows

and here is mine #GDP052

sep_0916-wm

For this one I rested the stamp on it’s back, inked it up as before, then spritzed it with water.  Then I find the best thing to do is to leave the stamp lying on it’s back and carefully lay some card on top and press it down with a spare acrylic block. I dried it with a heat tool and then overstamped using the tangerine tango.  I love this effect.
